Our Guilt Trip
I stumbled upon this thought-provoking TikTok video the other day that delved into the complex realm of guilt. The creator dropped some real wisdom: “Fear of moving forward often hides behind the mask of guilt.” It hit me like a ton of emoji-filled bricks. 🧱
He also mentioned that guilt can sometimes be our odd way of keeping ourselves in check. Like, if we don't feel guilty, would we just go wild and run amok? 🏃♂️ But, does that really make sense? 🤷♀️
So, let's dive into my own guilt-story cocktail. My private elementary school days were like one big game of hide and seek. High school felt like I was trying to fit into a puzzle where I clearly wasn't the right piece. College? Oh, that was all about reconciling first, figuring life out later. And adulting, well, it handed me the survival guilt ticket after my bout with the big C.
After all these years of guilt's star appearances, I've come to this realization: guilt isn't so much about us, but about our concern for others. And sure, some people might say that's a good thing. But, is it really? 🤔 Is guilt like a chameleon, sometimes a buddy, sometimes a sneaky foe? Can it play both sides? Maybe. Is its opposite just as true? Perhaps. 🦸♂️
What I've found is that guilt doesn't make you weak; it actually showcases your humanity. So let's acknowledge it, learn from it, and allow it to guide us towards making positive choices.
Feel free to drop your thoughts below, and let's stir up some perspectives! Remember, we're on this guilt trip together. 😅
