Self-Judgment and Your Inner Voice
We all encounter disappointments, and I've realized that my harshest critic isn't the external world — it's my own self-judgment. Reflecting on ancient wisdom, I've come to understand the unnecessary weight of self-judgment.
Can you resonate with the following internal dialogues I encountered after my recent talk to a virtual audience of over 16,000 attendees?
"That could have been better." 😬
"Maybe their compliments are just polite gestures." 🙏
"Why did you even say that?" 🤦♂️
"You clearly weren't prepared enough." 🤷♂️
"You should have performed better." 💪
Are these voices our truth, or are they the echo of an uninvited inner critic? It's a puzzle, and I guess we're all trying to figure it out. Through conversations with thousands of thought leaders and wellness experts over the years, I've uncovered that we have the power to distinguish between the authentic and the deceptive.
💡 A practical technique I've embraced is asking myself: "Does this self-talk bring positivity? Does it actually make sense?" Perhaps it didn't go as planned, but that doesn't negate the impact that I showed up.
🌊 Life may toss challenges our way, and yet, we might find ourselves being our harshest judges. The remarkable part? The choice of what to listen to ultimately rests with us.
